Week 11- Spider Scribe

https://www.spiderscribe.net

The idea of the site is that it is an easier way to make mind maps and brainstorm. It helps organize and visual ideas by connecting notes, images, documents, calendar dates and geographic locations into free-form maps. Maps can be shared online and collaborated on my many people in real time.
Teachers can use this to create lesson plans, compliment their presentations, and organize curriculum. It is also useful when collaborating with colleagues because it creates a one stop shop to view important documents and see how they are related.
When students are given an assignment they can share their results with the teacher as well as classmates. Spider Scribe can also be used with multiple people, which would be useful when students are given an assignment as a group.

Comments

  1. I've tried doing mind maps with my students before, and this software seems like it would be perfect for that. And I was wondering the same thing— is there a free trial or demo you can use before/instead of paying for it?

  2. Interesting and useful for some class projects. I wonder what other similar apps are out there.

  3. I like this a lot. I've used a different tool for a mind map before - Mind Meister: http://vmw25.net/ed-654/mapping-social-sciences/ I bet it is pretty similar. I love the idea of giving students the opportunity to respond to something in a more visual way rather than always just relying on typing or text.

  4. There is another one for free on the appstore called Inspiration. It has tons of free templates to choose from.

  5. I think this might help students who work on group projects. It does look a bit complicated, but once they got the hang of it, I bet students would be great at it. I like that everyone could be typing on it at the same time. I don't think I'd want to pay for it.

  6. This is a pretty cool concept. I like how it integrates clip art into each bubble. What ages groups does it seem most appropriate for?
